Don't be Disenfranchised!

by Jason Lillard

With every election comes the concern of voter fraud. Given the highly contested debacle in Florida during the 2000 election, and the less discussed Ohio 2004 problems, people are worried about disenfranchisement.

People have resorted to any lie possible to keep people from voicing their opinions. Many people have reported receiving calls or seeing flyers stating that certain parties will be voting Wednesday Nov. 5, or that people with parking tickets won’t be allowed to vote.

Don’t believe the lies! Everyone votes on Nov. 4, and nobody will be arrested on site for trying to vote.

Many concerns have also been raised about electronic voting machines. Machines can be programmed to count the votes in any way they want, and with no paper trail there would be no way to perform a recount.

Vote Nov. 4, vote on paper, and don’t be intimidated against exercising your rights.
